2022-2023 Dance Academy Auditions

9-11 am – Ages 5-10 yrs old  |  11-1 pm– Ages 11-18 yrs old

Dancers will be split into two groups during the audition process for each time block.

Please plan to arrive at least 10- 15 minutes prior to your audition time, to check-in, get your photo taken, and receive an audition number.

What to wear:

  • All dancers should be in all black, tight-fitting dancewear.  INSPIRE has a no bare midriff policy. Bring ballet shoes, turners or jazz shoes, and tap shoes.  Hair should be tightly pulled back away from the face and off the neck.

Audition Process Dancers will be required to do the following at auditions:

  • Jazz Technique:  A series of technical elements will be asked of each dancer to demonstrate.
  • Stage Presence: Dancers will be taught a short jazz combo. Here we are looking for focus when learning, how quickly choreography is learned, and performance ability.
  • Contemporary: Ages 9 and up may be asked to Improv to a song for musicality and emotion.
  • Tap: Please practice and prepare to show beginner/intermediate tap steps based on age and ability.

For a full list of steps and techniques you should be practicing, please reference information below.

Video Submissions will be accepted if you are unable to attend your assigned date and time. Video auditions are due by June 1st for evaluation. Please send video auditions to: danceacademy@inspireent.com.

Dance Academy is an audition-based program for students ages 5-17, who want to dance more than one hour per week, experience more performance opportunities, and make more rapid progress, without having the full-time commitment of a Dance Company. There are 5 teams which are based on age and technical skill. Each team will have their own individual training schedule to learn choreography that they
will perform throughout the year.

These teams provide quality training to help prepare dancers for their dance future. All Dance Academy teams will compete with the exception of Starlets (our youngest team)*. While these competitions are valuable, our focus is on dance education and on fully experiencing the art of dance in a deeper way than could happen if we were always in a competition mindset.

All Academy students and their parents will be expected to have good attendance, good attitudes, and be able to focus and work hard as we become better dancers and better people!
